NMC, which won a 2009 Gramophone Award for its The NMC Songbook collection of new works commissioned to mark its 20th anniversary, is offering music downloaders an annual subscription package.

For £80, buyers will get all of the company's releases for the next 12 months, and that – based on its plans for at least a dozen new titles for the year and pricing for lossless FLAC downloads – means three recordings will effectively be free.

Releases this year include Harrison Birtwistle's Night's Black Bird and The Shadow of Night, Thea Musgrave's An Occurrence at Owl Creek and Wild Winter I, David Lumsdaine's Big Meeting and Robert Saxton's The Wandering Jew.

NMC is hoping that, by signing up subscribers, it can raise funds to make new recordings – the label is a registered charity – at a time when funding is under increasing pressure.

You can find out more about the NMC annual subscription on the label's website.
