Famous for his work as one half of the comedy duo Armstrong and Miller, and for presenting the BBC TV quiz show Pointless, Alexander Armstrong has today announced that he will be recording an album of English pastoral songs for Warner Music's East West Records.

Armstrong is a former choral scholar of Trinity College Cambridge and describes himself as a baritone. The album will be recorded this summer and produced by Simon Franglen, who is known for his work on the soundtracks for the films Avatar, Titanic and Skyfall.

Armstrong said of the announcement, 'I am so excited to be joining the illustrious stable at East West and to be working with this wonderful team. Singing has had to take a back seat for the past 25 years of my life, but with this fabulous project I get to put that right.'
