Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2012 - special announcement

This year's Gramophone Classical Music Awards will be co-hosted by composer and conductor Eric Whitacre and the soprano Danielle de Niese. The Awards, which will take place at The Dorchester Hotel on Thursday, September 27, are the culmination of a lengthy voting process and the 15 recording Awards will be revealed in front of an audience comprised of artists and the record industry.
Danielle de Niese will also perform at the Awards, alongside a trio of the winning artists. She will reveal the 2012 Artist of the Year which has been voted for by musical lovers from all over the world (see the short list here).

This year also sees the inauguration of a new award, The Piano Award, which will be made annually to a major player who has made a remarkable contribution to piano music on disc.
