| String Fever Festivals 2008 |
| Stringfever - brothers Giles 35, Ralph 33 and Neal Broadbent 22 and their cousin, Graham 30 - are four world class musicians playing five and six-stringed electric violins, viola and cello in a truly original show. Stringfever’s unique, acclaimed version of Ravel’s ‘Bolero’ has all four playing on one cello simultaneously. Then they challenge the audience to play ‘name that tune’ as they race through 20 of the best-loved film themes in one breathless arrangement. Their helter-skelter 007James Bond medley is an absolute killer with astonishing live vocal percussion by Neal. The show ends with Stringfever’s breathtaking signature finale, ‘The History of Music... in 5 Minutes’. Charisma, humour, energy create an experience that can only best be described as... Stringfever! “It was brilliant, breathless stuff, spot on classically honed musicianship wrapped in style and humour… a day of reverence for the wild, wacky and wholly watch-able”. | The Cambridge Summer Music Festival 18th July - 9th August |
The 29th Cambridge Summer Music Festival -18 July to 9 August looks at the power of a big Cambridge asset–the voice,in many of its guises–St John's College Choir with the great favourite Chichester Psalms; the Festival Chorus (Brahms’ Requiem); the male voice phenomenon in Collegium Regale, and a professional mixed choir of English Voices (Allegri’s famous Miserere, while Patricia Rozario adds solo to the voice fest.

Tasmin Little’s Naked Violin; early music by Pantagruel and La Serenissima; Melvyn Tan and Messiaen’s amazing Vingt Regards plus a performance the next day with Timothy Orpen and the Doric Quartet of the Quartet for the End of Time are some of the highlights. |
