The July issue Gramophone Player opens with an excerpt from our Recording of the Month: Dvořák's Stabat mater featuring Ilse Eerens, Michaela Selinger, Maximilian Schmitt, Florian Boesch, the Collegium Vocale, Ghent, and the Royal Flemish Philharmonic conducted by Philippe Herreweghe

The line-up of recordings on this month's Gramophone Player also includes two tributes to Faustina Bordoni – a muse for Handel and Hasse – by Vivica Genaux (DHM) and Roberta Invernizzi (Glossa). There is Beethoven from the Storioni Trio with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jan Willem de Vriend (Challenge Classics) and the Valentin Berlinsky Quartet pair Beethoven with Shostakovich (Avie). The pianist Danny Driver continues his highly-regarded survey of the music of York Bowen, this time performing alongside violinist Chloë Hanslip (Hyperion). Paul O'Dette lends his lute to the music of Milano and baritone Mark Stone commences his 'Complete Quilter Songbook' (Stone Records). And there is music from Holmboe (Dacapo), Schnittke (ATMA) and Kalabis (Supraphon Archiv), which will perhaps open up new areas of musical enquiry.
