An extract from the film 'Teatro alla Scala - The Temple of Wonders', coming to cinemas on May 26, 2016

A new film telling the story of one of the world's great opera houses, Teatro alla Scala, will be released in cinemas across the UK on May 26, 2016. Called Teatro alla Scala – The Temple of Wonders the film leads the viewer through the main historical, musical, social and political events in La Scala’s 238-year history. 

In the Gramophone exclusive extract from the film below a young Luciano Pavarotti sings – beautifully and movingly – in a performance of Verdi's Requiem, conducted by Herbert von Karajan, at La Scala in 1967:
