Jeremy Corbyn received a short violin lesson from 10-year-old Jessica Kelly before playing in the orchestra
Today, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn received an impromptu violin lesson from 10-year-old musician Jessica Kelly as he visited Faith Primary School in Liverpool. He soon discovered that mastering an instrument was not quite as easy as it might appear, and Jessica was quick to put her pupil right. 'Play that four times,' she said, but when Corbyn failed to count correctly, she said: 'That was five.' Corbyn concluded: 'So maths comes out of music.'
Corbyn also said: 'I have this ambition that every child in every school should have a chance to learn a musical instrument because I think it does so much good, brings you all together but also gives you a sense of understanding method and probably makes you better at maths and other things as well. I think it's really great, I'm really pleased to be here. I love it. I think I might stay all day. It's either this or the Labour Party conference. I think we'll stay. Can I stay all day?'
