Aldeburgh Music celebrates Britten's centenary with the premiere of 'In Britten's Footsteps'
New sound work by Chris Watson retraces Britten's daily composing walks around Aldeburgh
Opening the weekend was the world premiere of In Britten's Footsteps, a new commission by leading wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson, which traced Britten's daily composing walks around Aldeburgh. Watson's work is based on sounds he recorded while walking the same paths as Britten over the course of a year. The recorded sounds were combined with live performances of Britten's cello music by Oliver Coates.
In Britten's Footsteps is part of Aldeburgh's year-long centenary celebrations for Britten. For more information visit Aldeburgh Music's Britten website.
