The Met: Live in HD presents Thomas Adès's The Tempest

British composer makes his debut with the New York company this autumn

On Saturday November 10, The Met: Live in HD presented the company premiere of Thomas Adès's The Tempest, conducted by the composer in a new production by Robert Lepage. The Met staged eight performances of the work this season, opening on October 23.

In the role of Prospero was Simon Keenlyside, who also sang the part in the opera's world premiere at Covent Garden in 2004. Sharing the stage with Keenlyside were Toby Spence as Antonio, Alan Oke as Caliban and Iestyn Davies as Trinculo.

The Met: Live in HD will be transmitted to more than 1900 cinemas in 64 countries around the world this season, including 141 cinemas in the UK. The next production will be Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito on December 1. Visit the Met website for full details of screenings and participating cinemas.
