In their third year as artistic directors for the International Chamber Music Festival in Stavanger, Norway, the multifaceted Swedish clarinettist Martin Fröst and the brilliant Norwegian pianist Christian Ihle Hadland (pictured, photo: Kim Laland/Bitmap), have chosen 'Bread and Circus' as the theme for this year´s festival. As before, they have chosen top international artists and combined them in different chamber formations for intimate concerts and world premieres.

The beautiful 12th century cathedral located in the centre of Stavanger is one of the main venues for the evening concerts. The close proximity between the different concert venues, the harbour, the fjords and mountains make Stavanger a great place to experience wonderful concerts with world renowned artists.

Artists this year include violinists Alissa Margulis, Boris Brovtsyn, Cecilia Zilliacus, Frank Peter Zimmermann and Julia-Maria Kretz; violists Antoine Tamestit and Máté Szücs; cellists Andreas Brantelid, Christian Poltéra and Torleif Thedéen; pianists Bengt Forsberg, Christian Ihle Hadland, Igor Levit and the young Norwegian talents Erik Truc Truong and piano duo CiMa; flutist Tom Ottar Andreassen; clarinettists Martin Fröst and Hermann Stefánsson; accordionist Stian Carstensen; mezzo soprano Anne Sofie von Otter; and The Baroque Soloists, Concerto Melante, Jerusalem Quartet, Trio Paul Klee and Trio Zimmermann.
