Lofoten International Chamber Music
9th July 2012 - 14th July 2012
Lofoten, Norway
The Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival presents some of the finest chamber musicians and ensembles every summer in the second week of July. Lofoten’s spectacular surroundings provide the perfect location for high-class performing arts, and ensure a memorable experience outside the concert hall, too.
The beauty of the Norwegian Islands is not only an attraction for tourists, but also for international musicians who tend to travel from city to city. In Lofoten they can perform with equally outstanding colleagues, while they stay in the picturesque and authentic fishing village of Nusfjord – which is also the centre of the festival.
Concerts mainly take place in the region’s many beautiful churches, where the midnight sun gives the late evening events a magic atmosphere. The festival attracts large numbers of visitors from the whole of Norway and abroad. A number of concerts are broadcast by Norwegian and European radio.
This year's edition present the following artists and ensembles:
Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Arvid Engegård, Peter Jablonski, Nils Mortensen, Signum, Nash Ensemble, Engegård Quartet, Marianne Beate Kielland and Kåre Nordstoga.
