Gramophone Player - iPad and iPhone
I too am hoping the there will be a version of the player which can work with an ipod/iphone -- even as a podcast download.

Well I'm now using the Player on my iPad, and it works, up to a point. However, some tracks are reluctant to load, though others are fine. And there isn't the same ability to go back a month or two that exists on the PC version. It would be helpful to have some comment from the management team on what's going on here?
I'm using my iPad to transmit the Player to my hifi via Apple TV's digital output, and in principke it works well, but it would be good to get these issues sorted.

I'm bumping this - sorry for the discourtesy - because after a week I've had no reply from anyone at Gramophone. I can see Mr Cullingford might be a bit busy these days, but I'd have hoped someone might have replied about the state of play for the iPad version of the Player??

Bumped again, as I'm really struggling to believe that no one from Gramophone is willing to reply on the issue.

Sorry about the lack of reply (though with specific questions for the team here, it's best to use the contact us link at the bottom of the page rather than posting a forum message). Not all the functionality works on iPads and iPhones unfortunately - purely to do with software compatibility. As you've found, you can see the latest playlist, but that's all. As to why some tracks don't load, that's more of a mystery, which I can look into - which ones?

I've just listened through the whole Player selection for January (think that's the first time I've done it since the days of the CD), and three tracks failed to load as I went through (the Barenboim Liszt, the Bach and the Dohnanyi), but I managed to get all three going second or third time round after the continuous play had completed. So I suspect it's a random thing. Be interesting to know if anyone else is using an iPad and having this problem.
I for one would find it very useful to be able to go back a month or two. I hope whatever software issue is preventing that can be overcome.
Incidentally, I'm listening via an iPad which is getting the signal via wifi, transmitted via wifi to an AppleTV device which has a (physical!) digital out to my DAC in my hifi. It actually sounds pretty good, although I do get the odd glitch which is doubtless due to local wifi issues rather than anything to do with the Player.
Martin, thanks for the response. If you're still having to deal with website stuff as well as your new responsibilities (congratulations on these, by the way), it's no wonder I had to wait a while for an answer!

Three months ago you mentioned the upgrade to allow the Player to work on an iPad would hopefully be available in the European Spring. Any news of a release date?
Thank you
