Monthly recording excerpts
I have the impression that the only recording excerpts available on the website will the be the current month and the immediately preceding month. Excerpts from previous months will no longer be available to subscribers. Is that the case?

I have read the explanation, but in fact it does not take international newstand sales into consideration, well not those in South Africa anyway.
I have only recently received my October issue and so I have not been able to listen to the corresponding tracks. When my November issue finally arrives it too will be too late. This is very frustrating for me. So sadly the November issue will be my last purchase.

As a subscriber who used to live in Africa I can only sympathise with mcondie's predicament. Had those of us who expressed concern on the long-running thread about the covermount discontuance known of the limited 'life' of these online files, I think we would have been more proactive. 'Gramophone' is an international mgazine, after all, and it should not be ignoring the needs of its customers overseas in far-off places. I have suggested on that thread (qv #299) that its management team might pass on our expressed concerns in their negotiations with the record companies and at least seek an extension on these on-line files for another month or two. I can't see what possible harm it could do to the industry - and when it comes down to bass tacks, we,the customers of classical music are the ones they depend on if they really want to sell their product.

Thanks for this feedback. I will look into the international distribution dates of Gramophone and see if we can get this taken into account. It is certainly our intention that anyone who buys the magazine can access the relevant tracks on the Player.

Apologies for the wrong reference - it should be #283

Thank you Martin. I am sure extra month or two would be appreciated by your many international readers. I will keep an eye on this with hope to see a change in the near future.

Yes, that's the case – the reasons are explained in this post.
