Spurious threads

For some reason there seems to be an ongoing series of irrelevant spurious threads, mostly it seems about kitchens. Though the moderators do an heroic job removing these, is there nothing that can be done to control these infuriating intrusions!
I sometimes wonder whether a silly reply is in order, but I suppose just ignoring them is the best course of action - they are a nuisance.
