NDX still amazing?
In mid 2011, Andrew Everard seemed mightily impressed by this piece of kit. Has the introduction of other options (Superuniti, nd5xs, or even the new Akurate) diminished the standing of this player overall in the streaming player market, Andrew? Would you now favour other options.

Thanks for such a quick response, Andrew. I really appreciate your time and your equipment reviews. I'll audition the NDX alongside the SuperUniti. I have listened to the Akurate DS and it sounds wonderful but perhaps a little polite for my taste.
I look forward to the ND5 XS review. Keep up the great work.

Andrew, I recall that you also reviewed the Linn Majik DSI. How does thatstackup against the SuperUniti and the NDX? Is it simply different style of sound presentation?

I'd place the SU comfortably above the Majik DSI, and the NDX – used with suitable amplification – comfortably above the SU.

I used to use Naim amps and brilliant products they were too.
However, given the price difference between the Linn and Naim products discussed here, wouldn't a fairer comparison be with an Akurate DSI or a Klimax DSI? Doesn't the Naim unit come somewhere between these two, price-wise?

Probably, but I haven't heard either the Akurate DSI or Klimax DSI, and the poster was asking how the Majik DSI stacked up against the Naims.

It wasn't a criticism, Andrew, but there might be readers who do not know that the Majik unit is one of Linn's cheaper players , whereas the SU is near the top of Naim's product list. Both company’s' products are great and I probably wouldn’t be able to choose between comparable price-points - but the difference between top of one and bottom of another, I would, as would almost anyone, I suspect.

Apols – wasn't taken as such, and I was just clarifying...

Thanks for the assessment. Linn only offers one own-box solution, and the closest two Naim products are the Uniti and the Superuniti, but I judge the Superuniti to be closer only because the Uniti includes a CD player in its price.
The NDX certainly is better compared with an Akurate DS, but very few seem to have made that comparison.
Thanks, Andrew, again for the quick response.

Not heard the new Akurate, and ND5 XS currently under test for April issue – SuperU was in the December 2011 issue – but so far nothing to change my opinion, beyond that the addition of the XP5 XS power supply to the NDX takes it into a whole new league!
