Radio 3 at 320kbps
Have just logged on to BBC Radio 3 and chose to listen to The Opera in HDS which stated that it was 320 kbps (impressed by the generally favourable comments above) and then when I wanted to check out the second of today's helping of Beethoven Sonatas on the repeat facility I couldn't get the opera to stop and had the two going simultaneously. I had to log off to stop the sounds!!! What'd the secret? Is it going to IE from Mozilla?
Ahah! it seems I had inadvertently got two identical streams going at once and closing down one stream invisibly left the other one going. Problem solved and this may help other beginners.

At the risk of going on like a broken record or a salesman for the company, I access the Radio 3 'HD' feed via my Squeezebox. As you say, the quality is excellent. I'm keen on finding out if or when the BBC plans to transmit its 'play again' output at the same bit-rate.

Does anyone know if Radio 3 I Player is available at 320 kbps and if so how does one access it? I can find nothing to click on to with he Radio 3 I Player page. I sent an e-mail to the I Player Q & A but got no response.

I don't think anything on the iPlayer is available at 320kb, 33lp (this is beginning to seem like Bletchley Park) and I've been unable to discover whether there are any plans for it. The highest rate I've seen is 192kb. I suppose it's asking for the cherry on the cake to want an equivalent 'on demand' service in the same high quality as the 320kb live broadcasts, but it would be very nice indeed, I have to say.

Seems you're correct JKH. I have now got a reply from the BBC stating "Unfortunately the HD link is only available on the Radio 3 website at the present time however I've forwarded your comments to our development team...."

Thanks for passing that on, 33lp. Looks like some finger-crossing is the order of the day for a while.

FWIW I'm getting anything from 320 to 485 Kbps on my Revo Mondo Wifi internet radio, although I usually listen to Radio 3 from their site on my laptop via USB to the DAC in my Audilab 8200 which sounds slightly better than the Revo.

Wonderful! I just discovered it. Playing via Logitech Media Server (formerly Slimserver) and Logitech Transporter.
