RE: The Brennan JB7 RE: The Brennan JB7

My father in law has one and he loves it. He’s too old and a technophobe
to use a any of the apple products. He was able to rip his CD collection to it
without a computer and was all cds were tagged something he could never have
done on a pc.

I agree that if you have your music on a pc or a comfortable with
ripping on pc an ipod and a good dock offers more flexibility than the brennan
jb7 but I don’t think its aimed at that market, so if its for your granddad I suggest
you get it for him, my father in law feels so up to the times now that he’s got
the brennan and does not have to ask for help anymore. He had it for 2years and
has not complained once so I think it is something worth buying.

RE: Reply The Brennan JB7

Hello,

The JB7 can be used as an amplifier. Any audio devices with a headphone jack can be connected with a 3.5mm audio cable into brennan's AUX (axillary) port on the back of the device. The unit can be set to the AUX mode and the attached device will then use the brennan JB7 as an amp unit. Hope this helped

Does any one know how to export track names from the jb7 to an external usb device?

Ok in order to do this you will have to go to the main menu, and then you scroll to usb functions then select this function.

The next step is to scroll to export names select that function.

Then the jb7 will make up a file on the usb called JB7 catalogue. This file will contain the names of all the tracks and albums stored on the brennan this will allow you to rename lots of tracks and album names.

In this file you will be able to edit any track names or album names.

Hope this helps!!!

JB7 vs X10

Last month I bought the new Cocktail Audio X10.

I had a Brennan JB7 before it.

What I can say is that Cocktail Audio X10 is a lot better than Brennan, it is more reliable, it has more features, and sound is very good.

I bought it from Italy: http://www.cocktailaudio.it because I live in Milan.

The most important X10's features, in my opinion, are:

  1. CD Ripping in FLAC (you save space, but quality is the same);
  2. Playlist creating (endless playlists);
  3. Discography View (very useful!! You can list album by artists);
  4. IRadio: you can listen and also register tons of free high quality internet radios!

X10 software is very good and it is easily upgradable by internet.

The best way to do this, is to play the I pod through the aux-in connector, I believe this is the only way to select tracks and use the I pod structure.

You may be able to transfer the contents of your iPod to the JB7,but all tracks will be represented in a single album without track information. You can also play from the attached device, but again you can't select or search the tracks, so you will have to start from the beginning and move forward.

i have been leaving my jb7 on constantly is that normal practise because it constantly shows me the time on the display screen even when its off. its a very costly product and i im scared of it overheating so should i have it off from the electric switch, or constantly leave it plug in ?

You can turn JB7 off at any time as long as it is not in the middle of completing a task. A good way to turn off JB7 is to press and hold the stop button – twice. This stops everything and parks the disk drive heads.

RE: Views on capabilities of devices other than the JB7

In the time since I last viewed this forum (and contributed way back on p.3), other products have appeared that offer an alternative to the JB7, notably the Cocktail X10. Can anyone point me towards a similar forum discussing that box, or is this the only place? I notice a few previous posts have mentioned it but not in any great detail.
