An item of hopefully more than local interest
Thanks for the focus Gramophone team.
As we approach the centenary of Kathleen Ferrier's birth, a good bio article appeared in yesterday's local paper.
She came of course from the same humdrum Lancashire town as my good self (only musical cognoscenti up here you know in Blackburn).
Not bad for a local girl who left school at 14 to go and work in the post office.

If you bring up the front page of my local paper, and enter Kathleen Ferrier in the search box, it brings up yesterday's article, plus others at the bottom of the text. Also a photo gallery there too.
Regards

My pleasure, JKH.
The Rough Guide to Opera describes her as probably the greatest contralto of the 20th Century, despite her short-lived life.

On the contrary, an item of unversal interest I should say, Mark. Thank you so much for posting this link.
