There are many personal music cataloging programs, but none seem to offer what I need, so I developed my own! It's based on Filemaker but will run stand-alone and has the following features:

• the catalog is based on musical works, each entered separately under Composer, Title, Extract, Opus no, Year etc (there are 4500 Composers pre-entered with dates, genre and country!)

• artists (unlimited) are entered beside each work under Name, Category (piano), Country... you could list every player in the London Philharmonic if you wanted to! This section is also searchable by category... Pianists, Tenors, Violinists etc

• artist roles for Opera recordings

• media details, Format (CD, LP), Live recording, Recording Year, Catalog No, Label, even a place for a scan of the cover

One CD may have 20 works by 20 different composers and 20 different artists, so this was the best way to structure the database. It is fully searchable, cross-referencing and printable. Pre-enters data from value lists of pre-entered data and feature many "easy entry" tricks for entering batches of works.

I'd love someone to give it a test run! It could also import from Excel or from text. If you're interested... foxyoz525@hotmail.com
