I`m new to this forum, but I`d like to introduce myself as a young classical cd-addict from the Netherlands.

I`m visiting Copenhagen in October, but I don`t know any CD-stores there. Usually when I`m in a foreign city, I like to shop for cd`s in a few good CD-stores. Does anyone have a good suggestion?

RE: CD-stores in Copenhagen

OK this is might sound pretty unhelpful so apologies in advance - but there's a great CD shop on a small backstreet in Copenhagen, I just can't remember the name of the street or the shop...

So: parralel on the left-hand side to the 'main drag' that heads off the central square (where the SAS building is) - that's the left-hand side as you're walking away from the railway station and towards the colourful harbour area - runs a narrow street with a scattering of bars and trendy shops.

There's a great CD shop on that street. It's split-level with helpful staff. An emphasis on indigenous Danish pop and avant-pop, but when I was last there, a small classical section (again with an emphasis on new music) kept me entertained for almost an hour...

Good luck

I think that must be Fona on "Strøket" .. the main shopping alley in Copenhagen going from Rådhusplassen to Nyhavn.

Apparently Jesper Buhl of Danacord Records has just opened a 300 sq ft CD store in the centre of Copenhagen, on the site of the old 'Tape and Record Centre'. There's a fascinating article about it in this week's Classical Music magazine (including a claim that the store will physically stock 64,000 titles) - but unfortunately it doesn't give the address...

This will no doubt be too late for the original inquirer, but I hope may benefit others in the future. I just left Copenhagen days ago and the CD store in question is called ACCORD. It is located on Vestergade, the street parallel to and just west of Strøget, (the main drag as others call it), and no more than 50 meters from the Town Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen). It has a decent classical CD selection at the back of the store. Good listening!
