Dr Brodsky - pull the other one
To the moderators,
Clearly Dr Brodsky is not taking this forum seriously, nor respecting the other other contributors here, and is destructively hijacking discussions for his own unfathomable ends. I don't feel like contributing further until he either desists or is removed from the forum. I wonder what other people feel?

Even if the moderators allow you to stay, you've effectively removed yourself from the discussion because you're patently not interested in having a meaningful dialogue with anyone.

Yes you are right Simon. Is it this discussion that you are not going to discuss anything with me, because if it is you are not doing a very good job.

Perhaps this is the only attention he gets.

Maybe his mother never loved him - There are a lot of people pretending to be doctors on here!

It's his crass hypocrisy that gets me. A bit like the BNP member throwing bricks through the windows of Asian owned shops and then going home to his pretty Indian girlfriend ( parla, if you do not understand this then I cannot-will not-make myself clearer), he rails against the BBC, urges us to bring it down and put the management against the wall but listens to Radio 3 and what else?
Perhaps he's a secret Eastenders fan.

Dr Brodsky wasn't going to reply to any more posts on this topic and was in fact thinking of not talking to any of you anymore. But you have gone too far this time Troyen. I don't mind the first bit about the BNP and would love a pretty Indian girlfriend, well when I say love, but you know what I mean, However to suggest I watch Eastenders, even in secret, is taking it too far. and of course I listen to Radio 3, it's fantastic, I would pay to listen to it given the CHOICE. However the BBC should find another way of funding itself, and that god awful dysfunctional family that sit in 'their' palace should do the same. Right I'm off to take my medication now. The Doctor is OUT.
P.S. Any pretty Indian girls can contact me here.

Simon, I don't support your motion as I feel pity for the guy.

Me too! I think he tries hard to become "bad" or obnoxious, but he fails all the way, by simply becoming upsetting, troublesome or...agent provocateur. I also think he is deep down a good guy, he sounds lonely, he certainly likes (and knows) about music and he apparently needs our company. So, we may have to adjust a bit and he has to try to "accommodate" himself in these forums. We'll see...

He can be quite funny. I'll repeat what I said on the Baroque thread: Dr Brodsky reminds me more and more of Slavoj Zizek (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvjGOncSyHM&feature=relatedin) in his wish to overturn the accepted viewpoint. I feel sure that the doctor is a bearded communist. I quite enjoy Zizek too!

You will see many of Dr Brodsky's contributions removed from Amazon's classical music forum for failing to meet their standards. Don't know if they dumped him but he seems to have found another readership to provoke.

All sorts of people can have bizarre views. In last weekend's FT, A N Wilson wrote that "Alfred Brendel, who in a sane world would be playing the piano in the foyer of one of the smarter hotels, is revered on the concert stage". He went on to say that "An hour spent comparing his recordings with the really great pianists such as Rubinstein or Corot would correct this "provincial London" viewpoint". If it wasn't for Dr Brodsky's inability to write a coherent sentence, I'd line up another suspect.

Brendel is a second rate pianist but a first rate musician. Horowitz was a first rate pianist but a third rate musician. That's why Richter is so special, a first rate pianist and a first rate musician.

Wrong again, Brodsky. Horowitz was a first rate pianist AND musician. He was simply not for the faint hearted, feeble minded or reactionary hearing. As to Richter, try his distorted and maniacally telescoped renditions of late Schubert to see how "musicianly" he could be at times.

An acquaintance of mine, in his sixties, was riding his motorbike when he ran into a stationary lorry.
He, as one can imagine, did himself serious physical injury and had to be cared for for months in hospital.
He is, just about, physically restored, now, but the accident completely changed his personality. In fact he became a ranting right-winger raging in language that can only politely be described as, colourful, and has become a major embarassment to his family.
Do you think there may be a similar reason for the Brodskysaurus'...problems?
Dropped on his head, unwittingly, unknowingly, forever cursed with repugnant views and the manners to go with them?
Yes, I can feel sorry for him.
Right, that's enough of that. Bring on the tumbril, metaphorically speaking, of course.

Remove him now. he's a very naughty boy and I won't play with him anymore.
