I appreciate the Gramophone Player very much. However, I would very much like a download format for the podcasts as I listen/watch these more likely on my iphone/ipod/ipad than streaming on my pc. The monthly Gramophone podcasts are available via Itunes to which I subscribe. Something similar for all other podcasts would lead to more convenient ways of listening to them.

Martin explains here why the service is streaming rather than downloadable.

RE: Gramophone Player

I have subscribed to the podcast via iTunes and have had only one. This was apparently No 1 and was released on 25 August. Is there any reason why the other awards podcasts were not avaiable in this way and when will the next podcast come out through iTunes?  Thaks

RE: Gramophone Player

I have just looked at Gramophone Player for the first time, and it seems generally to be well organized and of high quality. The Mozart symphonies in 'From the Archive' are especially welcome.

However, particularly in view of the fact that we cannot download items, could you tell us how long each issue will stay in Player. If this is to be in the order of 12 months or longer, then I think the lack of download is something we can live with. However, if the streams are to be available only for a month or so, I think their value will be extremely limited.

Hello Tom,

Music related to the issue - Editor's Choice or Collection excerpts for example - will be online for the shelf life of the issue (so about six weeks or so). Features such as Archive recordings, interviews or Podcasts will remain for much longer, potentially the forseeable future.

I hope that helps,

Martin

It will probably satisfy my requirents, but it sounds a bit rough on someone who buys the magazine near the end of its shelf life. Perhaps you could extend that period a little?
