Gramophone Player Cut Off Problem
I've just got round to giving the Gramophone Player a try for the first time. I had got halfway through the Part Symphony No.4 excerpt when the player suddenly stopped by its own accord halfway through, indicating "pause" on the screen. Whatever I do, I can't make it continue playing.
Has anyone else experienced such a snag? I should mention that my internet connection appears to be working fine otherwise.

Thanks for your quick reply, Martin. Yes, what I experienced was exactly the "buffering" type of problem on other players.

Certainly sounds like a bandwidth issue of some sort, MickyD - I've been able to play it all the way through both at work and home so it's not the content itself, but then both those internet connections are 10meg and above.
Can you tell me whether it plays in the player below?
Further, can you tell me the rough specs of your machine, your browser, location and your broadband speed?

I experienced the same problem. I don´t know what my bandwidth is, but I know it´s pretty minimal, so I´d imagine that´s the reason.

Hi John,
Well, the player you sent me works perfectly well - but unfortunately that doesn't appear to contain the Part Symphony extract I was talking about.
I'm not at all technically minded, so can't tell you much! I live in France, have an Orange account and recently upgraded to a 20 Mbits connection with Orange which seems to have worked very well for me up to now.

In which case - my apologies, I checked the wrong piece. Can you let me know precisely which one was giving you the issue so I can check it works properly for me?

OK, got it now - just listening...
EDIT - I got all the way to the end no problem. However, I can't believe it's a bandwidth problem at your end, since 20meg broadband is twice what mine is. Have you been able to play it since (thus indicating a possible throttling at our server end)?

Good morning, John. I tried the extract again this morning and had no problems. Grateful as I am for it to have been resolved, I do think throttling someone was a rather drastic course of action!

Excellent, I'm glad it's sorted. May just have been transient conditions on the internet or even just our player host - I noticed the site was particularly busy last night.
That Pärt piece is very good, hadn't listened to it before...

Dear MickyD,
Thank you for your post. This surprises me, as unlike some players that 'buffer' when the player encounters problems, our system is supposed to just drop the quality slightly and keep playing. I will raise this with the technical team.
Best wishes,
Martin
