How do I repaint a Gramophone horn?

I would like to repaint a gramophone horn, or spray it with lacquer, which i dont know whichever best possible to repaint it, with the colour that I want.
Any other suggestions about the "nostalgic color' that i should repaint on my gramophone, since the current one is fading gold.

Try the British Museum Reading Room/Library at St Pancras as they are the main people for recorded sound and I am quite sure that because of their extensive collection and knowledge they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Very carefully I would suggest as the nature and texture of the material may affect the sound! I'm afraid I can't offer any suggestions though.
