Hello -- I am looking for a way to track the sales of recordings in the UK.  In the US and Canada, there is a company called Soundscan that tracks the sales of all CDs and DVDs going back 30 years.  Is there anything comparable in the UK?

Specifically I am looking into the number of and sales of recordings of Handel's
Messiah.  I realize I could track down individual recordings on Amazon
and contact the record companies directly, but they are generally very
reluctant to give out figures -- plus I am hoping that the information
already exists in aggregate form somewhere.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hello. A good place to try - they may be able to help, or at least point you towards someone who can - would be the BPI (the British record industry organisation).
