Partsong, Bazza - the reason why Bartholomée's four-movement version worked so well for me is precicely because the last movement isn't a scherzo. it's a proper finale in an experimental form. I don't think that attempts to make it a hybrid scherzo-finale form a la Sibelius 3 could be fruitful.
In fact, I find this "finale" much more effective when it follows the inserted early scherzo, like in the Bartholomée version - than directly after the andante, like Marriner does. The scherzo creates a nice buffer between the serenity of the andante and the wildness of the finale.

Hey guys, I'm back (from a rather amazing trip to Glasgow and the gorgeous Scottish highlands)!
This week's piece is Penderecki's first violin concerto.

This thread has died a death - but if anyone is interested in hearing Langgaard's remarkable Sfaerernes musik (1916-cum-1966) then they can do so here:

Sorry everyone. I've been away quite a bit lately, but Perhaps a short break is needed anyway. As Bazza says, people seem to have run out of steam. A new work every week is demanding! For myself time is still a bit short at the moment so, I'll have to take a few week's break anyway.
What do you think Brumas?
