I love new music but often struggle to 'get into' the meaning of what I'm hearing. I have recently found this CD of Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe and find its modern simple melodies very moving. I think influenced by aboriginal sounds.

Concertino Pastorale Op.35 by Erland von Koch which is a wonderful piece for flute and orchestra with a lovely lyrical middle movement. Just discovered this myself mooching around the BIS website. http://www.bis.se//index.php?op=album&aID=BIS-CD-461

Hope you enjoy.
