New Music 2

There is an interesting little articleon New Music by Peter Quantill in the April Gramophone. I have just spent an hour or two exploring his Recommended Listening' list ... with mixed reactions.
The joanna Bailie piece was completely beyond my understanding and the Edmund Finnis (and other pieces on his web site) uninspiring. But I enjoyed Emily Howard's 'Magnetite' and Christopher Trapani's 'Uskudar', both of which i would go back to.
The 'stand-out' piece on the list for me was 'Fog Mobiles' bu Anthony Cheung. This piece for Horn and Orchestra kept me enthralled throughout its 13+ minutes.
Has anyone else sampled these offerings yet?

Haven't opened that issue yet (along with backlog of around 3 issues) - I did a quick check for Edmund Finnis (I chose him at random) and took quite a liking to his "Wall Talk" and "Looking Glass"
