Best to stick to posts about music - and when folk get antsy, then I stop posting.

RE: Parla and Devon Farmer

Who has the "blind self-belief" and who becomes a "tyrant" (not the world's great...yet), even unwillingly?

I wrote a post, in a conciliatory and friendly way, and everybody (blindly) got it as wrong as it gets. Speaking of the elusive truth in combination with what I express is a another view, maybe obsolete..., the last thing I may try to say is that "disagreeing with me will bring about the end of truth, justice and human rights" or there is "only one truth-his". I just tried to tell you that, regardless how I defend my position, it is as valid as yours.

Dear JKH, I know you will never be in situations like the ones I have found  myself. However, by making this ignorant, cheap and irrelevant act of humour against someone you don't know, you make yourself what you claimed about me, when I made my assertions on a video I haven't seen. However, the important thing is that you become unwillingly offensive to people you don't know, not me.

As for you Tagalie, you don't spare some 400 words and more, when you wish to be mean, at least to a member that has not been even impolite to you (or any other member). Since it is an anonymous forum, I will pass the extremely vulgar and offensive "both talk through their rear end". And what kind of modesty is this "they're out of step with the rest of the world"? And since when this "rest of the world" is better, worthier than the other rest?

So, to make things clearer: Are you all those, who participate in this thread (and don't speak for all the members, you aren't the spokepersons of all the members of the forum), sworn enemies or bitter friends?

Since some of you like the latin language (omnia dicta fortiora si dicta Latina), my favourite one and very pertinent, I guess, for any forum is : Quot homines tot sententiae.

I know what I'd like to do with his Beethoven CDs (if he has any) and the last thing would be to burn them.

They are both one trick ponies really.

It gets to the stage that you can wind them up and predict the result.

The one will get more abusive, drink more and blame the BBC for the Welfare State.

The other will tie himself in knots to the extent that, like the Chesire cat, barely a smile is left. He has no sense of irony and little sense of humour.

It is like shooting fish in a barrel. Don't get me wrong. I like shooting fish in a barrel!

As for ignoring them? Am I bothered? Do I look bothered?

I neither know nor care what situations you find yourself in, nor what you do for a living. In that, I suspect I'm far from being alone. Similarly, you have no idea what I do for a living and I'm absolutely damn sure you will never be in situations like the ones in which I find myself. It has absolutely nothing to do with what should be a music forum. The difference is that I do not constantly and monotonously allude to such extraneous matters in any of my posts. It is evident that many other posters are finding this aspect of your contributions wearisome.

With the possible exception of Farmer Brodsky (who in reality, I suspect, is as much a farmer as I am a prima ballerina), I can think of no other contributor to the forum apart from yourself who refers, even tangentially, to their occupation or 'situation'.  Whatever your own psychological motives for doing this are is your own affair - it's just the end result that people find immensely repetitive and tedious. And if you really cannot distinguish between the obvious fact that this was the object of my remarks and not some perceived 'unwilling insult' to people I do not know, this only serves to confirm what might be seen by some as your somewhat distorted sense of proportion and logic.

Looks like the bully boys have gone Parla, anyway back to what I was saying. Beethoven is by far the greatest composer the world has ever seen and sadly, ever likely to see. He towers above, not only every composer but every other artist in any genre. Shakespeare probably comes the closest to Beethoven but even he falls short. Beethoven wasn't just working in the highest echelon of music but the highest form of art CLASSICAL MUSIC.

*And I won`t be surprised if some future research will show that Shakespeare really didn`t write all those plays that he wrote.Music is the greatest of all the arts.I`ve always felt that Beethoven is the greatest composer, but Mozart isn`t chopped liver either.*

BEETHOVEN worlds greatest composer ever. MOZART second. I can go along with that. But in Olympic year who gets the bronze medal? (Not Paul Simon Vic).

Another ill-conceived and executed thread gets sour and ugly in dealing not with music (let alone classical music) but with forum members.

Then, comes the didactic comments by JKH, in an angry tone, why on earth I dared to mention some personal things about some difficulties mostly in dealing with replying to different posts. I thought it is legitimate to "paint" a bit (not much) the otherwise obscure persona we carry in an anonymous forum, something that is being done extensively by other members, who, however they consider themselves as "friends" (totally like-minded). I have seen plenty of posts, where, along the subject of the post, they refer to wives, kids, lifestyle, how the eldest daughter burn a whole hi-fi system, when one member had to have a minor eye operation, etc. Anyway, who cares anymore?

Mr. Troyen, don't repeat yourself about my lack of humour. At least I won't repeat my reply from the concerned thread. I don't have your sense of humour and I believe irony is used when we plan to offend, directly or not, the person we address to.

I'm not your enemy and I am not all the things you attributed to me.

I came back. I took a rest from your constant stream of misinformed(I'm being polite, here) conjecture (even more polite, I could have put drivel) and your lengthy excuses to justify your intellectual errors.

You never seem to learn as off you go again and sit back and wonder why your words of wisdom, no doubt, formed over many years of study and experience are treated with such contempt.

Why do you think that is, Parla (risks opening gates to diatribe from hell)?

As for the Brodskysaurus he seems to have entered the Devonian period and it cannot be long before he slips back into the primeval slime from whence he(it?) came.

Legitimate and worthy.

There is truth in them, Parla, but they are voiced by some in exasperation not enmity, and you seem unable to recognise its cause.

There might be some justice in your saying to me that I should heed my own advice sometimes but ... perhaps we could both benefit from writing as if it were possible we may be mistaken sometimes.

We all care about music.
