Telemann query
Tue, Jan 18 2011, 8:26PM
I've been listening to a lot of Telemann recently and have discovered to my delight that he's a much better composer than we had been led to believe.
But one thing puzzles me: amongst the vast corpus of works there don't seem to be any keyboard concertos. There are concertos for practically every instrument you can name, singly or in collaboration, but apparently nothing at all for solo keyboard.
Anyone any idea why this should be?

RE: Telemann query
Telemann did not leave many works for organ or harpsichord too...
But don't forget that there was no "tradition" of harpsichord concerto's before 1740.
J.S. Bach's concerto's are among the first and his sons were the real pioneers in this genre.
