To me, the most hideous cover ever is this one:

Performance is stellar though...

I will confess that I am actually very fond of this cover, but there is no denying that it makes Stravinsky looks like E.T. in sunglasses.

Cracking recording of Agon though...
Q. What is E.T. short for?
A. It's because he's got little legs.

Beside the ones already in an earlier topic?
The urinating gazelle in "Die Frau ohne Schatten" is an obvious candidate...:

Rolf
I think you just cornered the market Rolf.
Bryn Terfel may feature on more odd-looking covers than any other artist. On "The Vagabond" he looks like Central Casting's idea of a flasher.

Great selections and I agree the Salome cover is just wrong!
I was thumbing through my CD collection and this made me laugh:

Itzhak Perlman saying "Daniel stop talking and smile..he's taking the picture..Daniel...just stop for a minute...too late".
This one does keep me awake at night:

Frightening. Maybe DG had this cover in mind when thet produced Sinopoli's version with Studer in a very flattering photo shot.

I'm not sure if you can pinpoint one particular record. But out of the records where Karajan didn't appear on the front of his recordings wearing his C&A jumper, can someone explain the concept of the dead seagull on the Bruckner Symphony LPs. Bruckner 8 had a green dead seagull, Bruckner 5 was blue. Good recordings though!

This character from Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' is a definitive favourite of mine.

I must admit I never realised "Elijah" was Mendelssohn's comic masterpiece until now.

Good idea, the Rieu, but are we talking about just the cover?

My! What nasty person micturated in your cornflakes this morning? First, giving it to poor old Mahler in a new thread and now this!
Granted, the cover's a bit naff but I've seen lots worse and anyway, it reminds me of those covers Paul Whitehead did for early Genesis albums. Makes you think you could have been a painter yourself.

The trouble with the Nilsson/Salome cover is that Jochanaan's head is missing(presumed lost?).
'Elijah' clearly recognises Brian as the true Messiah as he has known a few.
Lastly, which one's Segerstam?
