The worst record covers ever
I guess in some way it has to make you smile. For instance I bought this lp in Oxfam this weekend:

Ted
So that's what Husitska looks like.

What's wrong with that cover, Timor? Even as a kitsch (if it is for you), it is not the "worst cover" compared to so many others, already presented here.
From a different perspective, it looks like a frame from a thriller movie. Not that bad in this framework. What about the performance itself of this work, by the way?
Anyway, in this thread we look for the branches, neglecting even the trees, let alone the wood.

Think of the title of the work, "Ripening". That should give you a clue. What the hell has the cover got to do with that for starters? It's not even a representation of a state of mind evoked by Suk.
Sorry, I don't pretend to understand your gnomic last utterance.

Still, I cannot see why the irrelevance of the cover makes it a strong "contender" for the worst record cover...ever (that's maximalism to the negative).
In aesthetic terms, the cover is neither ugly nor insulting. Its irrelevant theme is subject to different interpretations. However, the key issue is whether the performance is good enough to make us love, appreciate, indulge in the work in question. I have plenty of brilliant performances in unacceptable not only covers but whole packages. Do I have to care? Or to underscore the fact?
My last paragraph has to do with this matter. By giving enough emphasis, in this thread (already 80 posts), on the cover (the branch), we may start overlooking the performance (the tree) and, in the end, the work itself (the forest).

But the thread is not about performance. It is about the worst record covers ever.
It is you, as usual, who has lost the thread, the plot, cannot see the wood for the trees etc etc, ad nauseum.
Perhaps we should start a new thread: the worst contributions to a subject on a forum, ever!
I can think of one or two nominations. Can you?

I trust you, deliberately, read my post as you liked it with a view to producing the outcome you wish to comment upon.
I have full knowledge what the thread is all about. I just don't believe it has any productive, constructive or useful nature to focus on the "branch" for that long, because, at a certain point, we may overlook the performances or the works themselves. Of course, if you find enough fun to keep up with the subject, be my guest. I just find it irrelevant and counter-productive.
As for your last suggestion, I leave it with you to handle as you deem it necessary. For me any contribution has its role and should be treated in good faith and with respect.

It's not my fault the subject is beneath your vast intellectuality. I thought it was just a bit of fun, a noun that seems to be unknown to you.
If I had a brain the size of yours I am sure I wouldn't bother to demean myself by participating in such time-wasting trivia.
But, hey, I'm just an ordinary guy.
Also, I cannot wait for your next productive, constructive and useful comment.
Actually, I can as it happens.

You, Troyen, an ordinary guy? You' re the one!
No one is ordinary. Each and everyone has something special, unique to offer.
Don't be always that offensive or defensive. Despite our obvious differences, I appreciate your sincerity, individuality and genuine interest in dealing with Classical Music.
Maybe, for a different (more productive or positive) kind of fun, you may create the tread on the best record cover ever.

On Amazon(under music)if you type in "Reiner Beethoven"and go down a few entries you will see a RCA set of Fritz Reiner conducting Beethoven`s Symphonies 3,5,6,and 7.The powers that be must have had to work overtime to come up with that horrific cover! It would have been a lot less taxing for them(and for viewers)not to have produced said album cover at all. They should just have made it Reiner`s White Album instead(a la Fab Four)!

Indeed but it is like shooting them in a barrel. I know, being English, I should support fair play but...

Do you mean the one that looks like he's just played a left-handed five iron from the middle of the fairway?

You know, there are some unusual cover designs here. Some are quite striking; maybe mysterious in relation to the actual music, but neverthless, examples of highly imaginative art.
A prime example is the Parsifal cover featuring a muscled black man and a white swan. I think it has a strange and compelling beauty. A candidate for the 'worst ever cover'? No way.
Another example is the Adams cover featuring a ship floating in the sky in true Magritte style. It is guilty of being quirky, but 'worst ever cover'?
Surely, if a cover is the worst ever, then it must have no redeeming qualities whatsoever? It must be: Boring / Mundane / Lifeless / Sombre / Lacking humour, taste, quality. If it is a photograph it must be badly composed, unfocused, use distasteful colour combinations.
If the cover has even an ounce of attractiveness then it cannot be the worst.
