Vocalises/ Vocal Exercises/ Warm-Up Exercises
Hello I wondered if anyone can recommend vocalises for a baritone voice? There appear to be a great deal of vocalises and theories available from the likes of Panofka, Marchesi, Lamberti, Vaccai etc and I am unsure where to start. I think most of these texts are historical but really any lessons from any period that forum members can recommend would be most welcome!
While discussing Vocalises does anyone know of versions of the accompaniements available on CD or MP3 ?
Regarding warm-up exercises I tend to use David Jones' "An Introductory Lesson" as a guide but if anyone can recommend other examples that would also be great.
Thanks
David

I strongly believe vocalises are a waste of time. You might as well just do scales using different vowels. I would say study your favorite music directly. Try a book of beginner's Italian arias first as this language is easy on the voice and easy to pronounce. If you live in the US, as I do, Schirmer publishes a collection of these. Another publisher you can try is Dover Publications. Their books are very affordable. Hope I don't sound too opinionated.
