Well here we are again!
Its that time of year again my fellow music lovers. Our beloved proms season comes to an end and I think you will agree it has been a really great and exciting season. If like me you have watched all of the televised proms then I guess you have your memorable evening. . . For me it was prom 66 . . Wagner, Strauss, Schoenberg, with the berlin PO and the master Sir Simon Rattle conducting. BUT we have one final blast tomorrow night . . . the last night with all the old favourites. So, pour yourself a good measure of single malt, light the candles, put out the wife and the cat, and enjoy!

It was also an exceptional proms season, with several performances I shall be returning to in the future. And with increased attendances, it was a success not just in financial terms, which hopefully will deter the BBC hierarchy from making cutbacks in future seasons to save money. At a time when the arts are under threat in the spednig review, it is essential that the BBC protects its spending on worthwhile quality cultural enterprises (and not just in the field of classical music)

...Of course, after the second good measure of single malt, you may find you've put out the candles and lit the spouse and pet. But then it is only once a year, after all...
