When is a podcast not a podcast?
I have probably missed something but ...
My definition of a podcast is a broadcast that can be loaded into a digital music player for later playing. Hence "pod" (from iPod - a double neologism) and "cast" (as in "broadcast"). However, the links for the current Gramophone awards appear to offer a streaming feed directly. This means I can't enjoy listening to these items in the car of course.
Is this a new defintion of podcast or have I just missed the "download" link somewhere? If there is no download, then at the very least, calling this a "podcast" is deceptive and is significantly less useful to me as there is no sound system available on the computers I have that connect to an outward facing firewall.

A fair point about terminology, though the 'programmes' - if you prefer - were originally made for downloading from iTunes. We just added a visual track with sleeves when we uploaded them to our Player and our YouTube channel. Either way, we hope you enjoyed them.

Well, what I have missed is that I don't use iTunes because I don't as a matter of course run Windows or Mac OS X; Maybe there is some other way. Thanks!

I must be missing something too.
I can't find the most recent awards "podcasts" available for download from itunes.
And just to prove the point I have been trying to make on another thread it's impossible to use the must vaunted Gramophone Player in locations with low data rate broadband. I've just been trying to listen and get 16 seconds of audio then a break while it buffers the next 16 seconds of data then another 16 seconds of audio then another break ...
I don't call that progress.

I am using iTunes.
There is indeed an available podcast (The Gramophone Podcast 2010 No 1, Aug. 25, 2010).
The Gramophone Player also lists "Gramophone Awards" comments, by James Jolly and other reviewers, as podcasts. Indeed there are 4 podcasts which is available via Gramophone Player as stream media. Yet these 4 podcasts are not available from the iTunes.
The 4 podcasts add up to almost 2 hours. Can we please have that as "downloadable" podcast through the iTunes?

I asked a similar question about the podcasts being availabe on iTunes on the forum thread called "Gramophone Player" on 4th October, Martin Cullingford replied the next day saying that he would investigate.

You've not missed anything - it is a podcast. I have it on my Ipod.
Try Itunes.
