RE: Chopin waltzes

Hi again Petra!

Now I´ve listened a little bit to Moravec - the Chopin Nocturnes. I think I immediately recognized that he is a very unique artist. His presence and concentration are astonishing. And what intensity! Even in the quiter moments. It feels like you get an injection of something very pure and strong. Don´t laugh, but I can certainly say that few musicians has made such an impact on me. When it comes to the piano I have had similar experiences with Rubinstein and Ashkenazy.

Best wishes

Bagis

In the Nocturnes, you may try Angela Hewitt, performing in a wonderful Fazioli (on Hyperion: there is even on SACD format too). Along with the "intensity" and necessary passion, there is much finesse and exquisite refinement, in a brilliant recording.
