Classical CD Collection (or part of) wanted for beginner…
I’m looking to establish and grow a decent classical music collection on CD. I’m presently slowly collecting secondhand discs, choosing from the information available from such sources as The Gramophone Guide, Penguin, Building a Library, and other recommended websites.
It’s great fun collecting in this way, and that’s how I mean to continue. But I thought it might be an idea to give myself a real head start by purchasing an established collection or part thereof, rather than just pick a job lot at random online. I want to buy from a proper collector, who for whatever reason, may be thinking of selling some or all of his/her collection, if I can.
I’m not looking for rare, real collectors’ items, or buried gems. Equally I’m not interested in compilations of part works (though I don’t decry those at all). Just the breadth of classical music repertoire as reported in Gramophone and the above sources, but not necessarily the ‘first choice recordings’ since I’m keen to hear different performances and conductors.
I won’t just cherry pick the best CDs. I will not split and re-sell any collection I acquire.
I am based in central Scotland. Any agreement must give buyer and seller financial peace of mind for the transaction.
If this is something you’d be interested in now, or in the future, please let me know. Meantime, on with the collecting!
(I’m also interested in Gramophone back issues)
With very best regards to all.

Bob, I tried to post this yesterday but I think the site (or my browser) was playing up a little -- anyway, when I checked the post hadn't made... Let's try again: have you seen this post elsewhere in this forum:
