Gramophone JS Bach Composer Guide is missing something very important
Mon, Oct 8 2012, 11:35PM
I saw the new composer guide on JS Bach. There is no mention of Bach's organ works which constitutes one of his most important musical outputs.

Orgelwerke
Yes, you are absolutely right...in fact there are times when I think that the organ works are a separate universe into which Bach poured EVERYTHING he knew and felt and believed.
Richter, Hans Fagius, Simon Preston, Andre Isoir, Ton Koopman, Peter Hurford...too many to list but a vast ocean of richness to sample. And then there are wonders like Lionel Rogg's Bruckner 8 and the organ music of Cesar Franck which are clearly indebted to the man from Leipzig.

Yes - amazing that there's no mention of the organ works!
Nothing by Karl Richter either ...
