I have recently discovered some of the Exton
recordings with the Mahler's symphonies by Macal and the Czech PO ans Honeck
and his Pittsburgh SO.

I was stunned by the technical quality of these
records.

I think they are better than the Decca's (Chailly, Solti) and Denon's
(Inbal).

On the musical side, Macal and the Czech PO are the more impressive and
have the better acoustic of the Rodolfium.

There was positive reviews of the slightly more recent Honeck records
but I have not found any review of the Macal's.

If you listened these (or others) Exton records what is your
appreciation ?

RE: High quality sound

I am a consistent collector of Exton SACDs and I can fully subscribe to your enthusiastic comments on their recordings, including the ones of Macal's Mahler. They deserve all the superlatives for the close to perfect sound reproduction. Honec's Mahler is also very impressive.

Practically, for one of the best ways to playback, Exton (and Triton for Piano works) SACDs are some of the very best in the world market. Unfortunately, difficult to get them and quite expensive even in Japan.
