nasty or nice? I was very disappointed by the Lipatti box - boxy is the word for the sound. Is this the best EMI remastering or a selling-up?

I think you mean the "icon" series and no, the sound IS NOT state of the art. In fact, I'm quite angry on EMI about that. Why? Watch this:
