I am doing research into the BBC and the events of Sept 3, 1939. Specifically, I am looking for music that was played on the radio that day. I have found some actual historical information, but I would love to find some of the actual recordings mentioned. Below are some things I learned were played on that day:
The Brighouse and Rastrick Band playing Sibelius's Finlandia and
excerpts from La Traviata.
The Clarilyn Sextet playing a variety of short, light classical
pieces including Debussy's 'The Girl with the Flaxen Hair'
Phyllis Scott on piano while Robert King sings 'old-time songs'
including Hebridean Gaelic songs.
The BBC Northern Ireland Orchestra, pieces includes Mozart's 'The
Percy Whitlock's "Ballet of the Wood Creatures"
Norman Allin performing "Lowland Love Song"
Does anyone know where I may find some recordings of these pieces? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
