LYRITA & NIMBUS (etc) CD-R's (!!!) - Be warned!
I don't buy into the argument that small companies can no longer afford genuine pressed CDs. CD pressings come cheap, and they're much more durable on average.
Presumably the issue is the large number of pressed CDs they must commit to buying in one batch (e.g. multiples of 1000). Given most classical CDs probably sell in the 100s, a company like Lyrita would presumably end up with tens of thousands of CDs in unsold stock if they enter a reasonably large re-release programme.

That's exactlly why Lyrita went the CD-R route. Otherwise they never would have released anything. So we should count our blessings.

Dear Sound67
I have checked all of our email accounts and can not locate an email from you regarding the Lyrita CDs. If you can resend it for my attention I will respond to it immediately. If anyone is experiencing a problem with a disc produced for Nimbus, Lyrita or any of the other labels we manufacture or distribute please contact me or my colleagues and we will replace them
immediately. We will also perform a full diagnostic test to establish the root of the problem. My email address is antony@wyastone.co.uk
Sincerely

For what it's worth, I've been using CD-R for at least 15 years to tranfer tape recordings I had made off the air, to backup LPs and a few of my CDs (some potentially faulty 'bronzing' ones). I've had a few discs that refused to record but once done I've not found a single disc that refuses to play in all that time. Still 20 years to go but the omens are good so far.
