Out of Print Classical Cd's
I am looking for some OOP classical
cd's. One is of a Wagner recording (Die Walkure) with Maestro Dohnanyi
and the Cleveland Orchestra. This was made on the Decca label back in
the mid-90's I believe. Do you have any suggestions on where I could find this particular OOP print recording and other hard to find classical cd's. Any suggestions??

Gregory - just to clarify - Arkiv supply both new CDs from the catalogue and CD-R copies of out of print recordings licensed from the record companies. Their CD-Rs will sound identical to the orginal CDs, but the long term archival life of CD-Rs is debatable (even if the dye is predicted to be stable for 100+ years) and you need to be careful about storing them. Arkiv used to supply fairly poor quality photocopied artwork with the CD-Rs but I think these days the covers and notes are much better reproduced, although they still don't have quite the same feel of quality of the original.
However this may be all irrelevant for you because when I had a quick look at their site I couldn't see this recording as a CD-R, only the out of print original is listed.

Hi
If you are willing to have a less than pristine booklet/packaging then why not get a second hand copy through somebody like Amazon. I was very nervous doing this the first time but have found that very often what is described as 'good condition' is pretty fine. My last purchase this way, a disc of Rachmaninov by Shelley (out of print) cost me $7 (including postage) and was in mint conidition, except for the slightly yellowing booklet.
As others have said you also try Arkiv, which has a good reputation with others (although I have not tried them myself). Alternatively you can usually find most Decca/DG/Phillips releases somewhere in Germany. I cannot remember the name of the store in Berlin but I was amazed by the range - I am almost certain they would have an online presence.

Regarding your post: I have tried it several times but the shipping cost are very high to my country (the Netherlands) and some of the sellers don't sell overseas.
So beware of that.

I know of someone in the United States that has 1000's of live classical music recordings dating back from 1900's +. These recordings have never been published or realeased and are almost impossible to find anywhere. If you interested I can give you his contact information and he will be able to email you a sample price list. He does not currently have a website. My e is mbateam at yahoo dot com

I think if you want something badly enough, you get it. I have learned things from this thread, and I hope my - rather obvious - suggestion will help someone.
I wanted a copy of Torke's Colour Music, but it was OOP, and no one seemed to have it. I did get a copy, a perfect one, through Ebay.
I am not sure how many people track classical music on Ebay. I think it may be relatively few, so bargains are to be had.
Also a good source for a cheap gamble, if the seller is willing. If you don't like the music, you can always sell it again.
