I do not know the Gernsheim Piano Concerto--I will look him up!

Lloyd - while certainly not hi-fi here is YouTube at your disposal:

Gernsheim Piano Concerto op.16 (part 1)

Enjoy...

PS - I was not clear in my orginal post - while Hyperion seem to be able to find adverturous pianists finding cellists and violinists willing to take up the mantle of the undiscovered and second rank has proven much more difficult. I think Hyperion will soon be releasing a set of Pfitzner cello concertos but I have no idea where they will go next with the violin concertos... there is no lack of music, just musicians it seems.

Thanks for the link--will check it out. Yea, no lack of music to explore, but a lack of musicians who will record something for peanuts. That is the problem. Again, I'll record anything for peanuts. Call me, producers.

RE: Romantic Piano Concertos of the 19th Century

I just finished reading the article in Gramophone over the weekend and found it very ironic that while the writer showed the cover of Earl Wild's recording of  Scharwenka's first piano concerto and discussed it, they didn't mention that the same CD also contains his recording of the Paderewski piano concerto, which, for my money, is a much more attractive 19th century Romantic piano concerto.  In fact, I've been enamoured of the Paderewski for years and have about half a dozen different recordings of it all told.
