Ministry of clowns

The news that DG (or the Yellow Label, as they repeatedly keep trying to get everyone to call them in press releases – much as a famous beer brand tried to get boozers to refer to their fizzy piffle as 'amber nectar' for years) has set up a new label called Panorama to 'create new sound-worlds, touching the borders and pushing the boundaries of the classical music genre' should be greeted with resounding cheers, shouldn't it? Brilliant, I thought, lets get some genre-smashing art out there to shake up our lazy musical assumptions.

But before you get too excited, and I could sense you were, permit me drop the pitiless bombshell of reality on your house of dreams: that isn't actually what Panorama is for. Let me explain… No, forget that, just listen to this. This is a preview of the album that they propose to launch Panorama with, by a chap called Schiller.

So that's Schiller really 'pushing the boundaries of the classical music genre' there. Really pushing the boundaries of the classical music genre into the world of the Eurovision Song Contest.
