Anna Starushkevych wins Handel Singing Competition

Mezzo-soprano Anna Starushkevych has been named the winner of the 11th Handel Singing Competition, held at St George’s, Hanover Square in London. The Ukrainian singer took both the Adair Prize and the Audience Prize and is the first mezzo-soprano ever to win the competition.

Starushkevych sung excerpts from Rodelinda and Rinaldo accompanied by members of the London Handel Orchestra directed by Laurence Cummings. She was one of six finalists selected for the competition, which forms part of the London Handel Festival.
