BBC Radio 3 tonight launches its ‘Live in Concert’ slot – a live broadcast concert from across the UK every weekday evening. For the past few years, the evening concert has been pre-recorded and broadcast at 7pm, introduced from an announcer in Broadcasting House; the new slot will start at the customary concert start-time of 7.30pm (Sean Rafferty and Petroc Trelawny’s drive-time programme 'In Tune' will now start at 4.30pm, 5pm on a Wednesday – to make room for Choral Evensong at 4pm – and end at 6.30pm in time for a repeat of 'Composer of the Week' which will run up to the evening concert).

'Radio 3 Live in Concert' kicks off tonight with a concert of music by Tomás Luis de Victoria – who died 400 years ago this year – live from Sherborne Abbey in Dorset: Harry Christophers conducts The Sixteen. The remainder of this week’s live concerts come from the Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday (LPO / Jurowski); from Bridgewater Hall, Manchester on both Thursday (Hallé / Elder) and Friday (BBC PO / Sinaisky).

In addition to being broadcast live, all the evening concerts are available on the BBC iPlayer for seven days after their initial broadcast.
