Andrew Cornall has been named Vice President A&R of EMI Classics. Cornall, who takes up his new position on January 1, 2011, is currently Executive Director (Artistic Policy) with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. Before that he served for 25 years as a producer with Decca, amassing a host of awards, as well as re-launching the Argo label. During his time at the RLPO, the orchestra has enjoyed something of a renaissance, enlarging its audiences, extending its repertoire, commissioning major composers and attracting new talent to Liverpool.
“Andrew’s extensive international experience in both recording and live classical music has demonstrated his success in balancing artistic, commercial and music lovers’ interests. This combination makes Andrew an ideal leader for the EMI Classics new recording programme over the coming years,” commented Eric Dingman, President, EMI Classic Worldwide. Cornall added that “It is an honour to join the team at EMI Classics, which is home to many of the greatest classical artists today. I look forward to the challenge of steering the label’s artists and repertoire policy and building on the tremendous potential of the label worldwide.”
