Exclusive video: The Tallis Scholars pay tribute to Arvo Pärt on his 80th birthday

Admirers of Part's music were given a special opportunity to appear in this special filmed tribute to the composer

Earlier this year, The Tallis Scholars released a new album dedicated to Arvo Pärt's music called Tintinnabuli, and a unique opportunity was offered to anyone who purchased the album: the chance to appear in a special video tribute to the composer to be released in time for his 80th birthday on September 11. Peter Phillips, Director of The Tallis Scholars, said: 'We wanted fans of Arvo Pärt's music to be able to show their own appreciation of his work. Each selfie must surely represent just a tiny fraction of the number of people who have been moved by his music.'

Tintinnabuli was an Editor's Choice recording in the March issue, with Gramophone's Caroline Gill concluding: 'The Tallis Scholars have presented their chosen repertoire in the way they have always done best – as a sound world of profound beauty.'

The Tallis Scholars have given Gramophone exclusive early access to the video, which features as its soundtrack the choir singing Pärt's Which Was The Son Of... taken from the Tintinnabuli album:
