Linn is celebrating its 40th anniversary by joining forces with Highland Park to release a special Limited Edition Sondek LP12 turntable – the product which launched the company four decades ago. Just 40 of the turntables will be made available worldwide, priced at an eye-watering £25,000, each accompanied by a bottle of Highland Park 40-year-old malt whisky.

The high-performance turntables - originally designed by Linn founder Ivor Tiefenbrun - have been manufactured at the company’s factory just outside Glasgow. Each Limited Edition Sondek comprises a Kandid moving coil cartridge, Ekos SE tonearm, Keel sub-chassis and armboard, Radikal DC motor and power supply, Urika phono stage and LP12, and is encased in a wood plinth, made from the solid oak casks used to mature Highland Park’s whisky.

‘Both Highland Park and Linn have a strong heritage in their respective fields,’ said Linn marketing director Angus Lawrie. ‘We share the same values in terms of passion, innovation and exacting standards to ensure we continue to make world-leading products.’

Established in 1973, Linn systems are manufactured completely in-house and are sold worldwide. The company’s recording arm, Linn Records, was named Gramophone’s Label of the Year in 2010 and is known for its high resolution Studio Master downloads.
